Buyer Policies

Buyer Policies
Members are not allowed to interfere with another member's transaction.

Members may not contact a seller and offer to purchase a listed item outside of BidNigeria's.

Members are not permitted to email buyers in an open or completed transaction to warn them away from a seller or item. If you have a problem with a transaction, please use the feedback forum.

A bid is a binding contract. Except under special circumstances, bid retraction is not permitted. Furthermore, misuse of the bid retraction option to manipulate the bidding process is not permitted. This includes any manipulation of the bidding process to discover the maximum bid of the current high bidder or to uncover the reserve price.

Buyers automatically enter into a legally binding contract to purchase the item from the seller if they win the online auction or use the Buy It Now feature. BidNigeria's Unpaid Item policy requires buyers to pay the seller for the items that they commit to purchase. BidNigeria's will issue a strike on the account of the buyer who does not honor their obligation to pay (unless the buyer and seller mutually agree not to complete the transaction).

Buyers who do not meet the seller’s terms as outlined in the item listing are not permitted to bid on or buy the item. Furthermore, buyers are not permitted to place bids or purchase items with the primary intent of disrupting a listing.

Because family members, roommates and employees of sellers have a level of access to item information which is not available to the general Community, they are not permitted to bid on items offered by the seller -- even if their sole intent is to purchase the item. Family members, roommates or employees may purchase items from a seller without violating this policy simply by using purchase options -- such as Buy It Now -- which do not involve bidding. BidNigeria's strongly encourages sellers with employees to ensure that their employees are aware of this policy and the possible consequences of violation.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
  • Listing cancellation
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Account suspension
  • Forfeit of BidNigeria's fees on cancelled listings
  • Loss of PowerSeller status
